ASNT Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A (2024)

Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A: Personnel Qualification and Certification in Nondestructive Testing (2024) provides guidelines for employers to establish in-house certification programs for the qualification and certification of NDT personnel. It provides the educational, experience, and training recommendations for each NDT method. Since 1966, employers have used this industry-valued document as the general framework for their employer-based certification programs. A few of the updates to the 2024 edition include: modified definitions to clarify meanings, restrictions on the use of eye drops to improve vision, the recommendation that employers assess whether referenced exams meet their requirements, the addition of the ASNT 9712 Program, the recommendation that personnel administering written examinations are trained. It is recommended that SNT-TC-1A (2024) be used in concert with ANSI/ASNT CP-105: ASNT Standard Topical Outlines for Qualification of Nondestructive Testing Personnel (2024), to be released in summer 2024.

This 2024 edition has been amended through the addendum process. The addendum was released and went into effect in May 2025. In addition, Appendix C clarifies changes that will be implemented in the 2028 edition. All changes have been incorporated into the ebook and are available in the resources below.
